DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS



Direct Object Pronouns: in spanish is used to replace the proper noun.

Examples in Spanish:

Jorge did not come to work, because he was sick
Jorge no vino a trabajar, porque él estaba enfermo.

:: The pronoun él replaces the proper noun Jorge

:: In Spanish, the construction of direct object pronouns is a bit different from English.

me me
you te
her la
him lo
it lo
us nos
you (plural) os
them las, los

Examples in Spanish:

Wilmer has the book.
Wilmer tiene el libro.

Wilmer has it.
Wilmer lo tiene

I am buying some shoes
I am buying them

estoy comprando unos zapatos
Los estoy comprando.

When People are Direct Objects: When human beings are direct objects, you need to add an “a” in front of the direct object noun.

We are going to see my grandmother.
Vamos a ver a mi abuela.

I’m going to bring Mary.
Voy a traer a Maria.
