Spanish Conjugation

Definition: In Spanish conjugation, there are three categories of verbs. The category is determined by the last two letters of the infinitive, Spanish uses conjugation much more extensively than English.

Examples in Spanish:

we are cooking
estamos cocinando

Remember that spanish infinitives always have -ar, -er or -ir endings.

-ar verbs (like andar)
-er verbs (like beber)
-ir verbs (like dormir)

Present tense -- El presente:

  Andar Beber Dormir
yo ando bebo duermo
tu andas bebes duermes
él anda bebe duerme
nosotros andamos bebemos dormimos
vosotros andáis bebéis dormís
ellos andan beben duermen

Imperfect tense -- El pretérito imperfecto

  Andar Beber Dormir
yo andaba bebía dormía
tu andabas bebías dormías
él andaba bebía dormía
nosotros andábamos bebíamos dormíamos
vosotros andabais bebíais dormíais
ellos andaban bebían dormían

Simple past -- El pretérito indefinido

  Andar Beber Dormir
yo anduve bebí dormí
tu anduviste bebiste dormiste
él anduvo bebió durmió
nosotros anduvimos bebimos dormimos
vosotros anduvisteis bebisteis dormisteis
ellos anduvieron bebieron durmieron
