SPANISH SILENT LETTERS
Many languages have silent letters like English has k in "knife". Mute or silent letter are not exclusive of English. Spanish letter are almost invariably pronounced. There are two important exceptions:
- H is always mute, and must be ignored in pronunciation.
- U is mute if it follows g or q and the same time precedes e or i: that is to say, it is mute in the combinations gue, gui, que, qui.
